Step 1

Choose a photo you want to put a boarder on and open it in photoshop.

Note: This works best with a photo focusing on something/someone in the middle.

Once in photoshop click on the rectangle selection tool. It should be below the arrow on the top left. Then draw a box in the middle of your picture. Later the stuff outside of the box will be blurred.

Step 2

At the top toolbar Press "Select" and then "inverse". This will select everything but the main box.

Step 3

Go back up to the top tool bar and click "filter" then "blur" then "gaussian blur...". A window will pop up with a slide bar at the bottom. Change the radius of the pixels with the slide bar (the higher the radius the more blur there will be). This will immediately go to your picture but wont save unless you click ok. After you find a blur amount you like then click ok.

Final Touches (Step 4)

Go to the top tool bar again and click "Select" then "inverse". Now that we have the orginal box selected again we are going to copy and paste it onto a new layer by pressing command j.

Double click the new layer. Here we are given a number of options. I'm just going to put a outline but this is optional: Click the "Bevel and Emboss" check mark and then click okay.

We're done. Don't forget to save this as a jpg. and psd. incase you want to make edits.
